After half a day, I'm no longer too angry for words. Just very, very angry.

This is not a political post. I am not writing as a leftist, nor as a critic of the Republican Party. I want everyone who reads this to know that I am certain that there are elements in the GOP that object to what was shown at the Convention last night, and they are as affected by it as I am. What I've got to say is not to be lessened in its ( Read more... )

HANK. I've been thinking of you often, haven't heard from you in ages. Of course, the pot and the kettle are vying to identify themselves with my personality.

If you're still in Virginia, we need to get together and just hang out.

I expected this. I really did. I wasn't sure who was going to irreverently use the memories of 9/11 for their own purposes first-- demo or repub-- but I knew it was going to happen.

It's one of the reasons I've been trying to stay away from watching election coverage on tv, instead getting most of my information online.

That video made me cry. It made me get lost in my own memories of what happened, where I was, who was lost. It started a dialogue on that day with my son, who saw me watching it and wanted to know why the good guys didn't just stop the bad guys.

But, independently of your post, I was still smart enough to realize just what they were doing with this video-- how they were attempting to emotionally manipulate millions of people-- and I have faith that other people saw that, as well.

Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to have faith in our country.

Thank you so much for posting this--I should have expected it. But I'm so glad that Keith said that, because I'm almost afraid that no one else will.

I find myself fast-forwarding to his statement, to renew my faith in the thinking brains of Americans.
