facebook and livejournal are hardly exclusive. fb is very unfriendly to long format entries or replies.

"I'm making brownies"

JohnSmith: awesome!
JillJones: save some for me!
BobJohnson: yum!

That and you can set up your FB account to feed your LJ entries as "Notes", so you can have multi-network synergy. Post on LJ, get readers on FB.

I actually use LJ more than I did before I started FB.

BTW, I'm one of kevissimo's friends. Just so you know.

I find FB very useful.

IGNORE the apps & quizzes - they're just a suckage of time.

Only "friend" people you actually know - that keeps it under control fairly well.(I somehow doubt that will be a problem for you)

I never much got into MySpace -- and although I like LJ for reading up on my friends, I'm just am not an essay writer. Looking at my blank LJ page is just too much pressure for me. Haha.
Facebook allows for a lot of personal interaction with friends - and easy dissemination of information.
