If there was ever any doubt that I'm a hopeless geek, it was obliterated just a moment ago when, while listening to some enka, I realized the kanji character 高 totally looks like a K't'inga class battle cruiser from the original Star Trek as viewed from the bow.

I've been known to rant for at least that long about the treatment of Romulans in the Trek universe, explaining how they were originally intended to be the main antagonists, and the honorable adversaries, but the Klingons supplanted them, and took their traits and their ship (the Bird of Prey was a Romulan ship in the series) along with their screen time. I usually conclude with how frustrating it is that they've only had two movie appearances, the first where their Senate was killed by a clone of a human leading a slave uprising, and the second where their !@#$%^&* homeworlds are destroyed.

I most recently did this to Jim when we were waiting for The Road to start when I visited him over the New Year.
