Another one falls through, yet again

People always tell me to be optimistic. But I don't see the point -- you're only setting yourself up for disappointment if things don't come through the way you'd hoped. If you're pessimistic, you're setting yourself up for a pleasant surprise. I mean, that does make sense...doesn't it ( Read more... )

I agree with the pessimist thing...But that only works sometimes, or else you're just going to set yourself up for a really shitty, dreary life, pal. I'm what I like to call an 'optimistic pessimist'where I think negatively all I want, but do it with a positive attitude. The best example I can give is this: The world is gonna end and every shithole is gonna go up in smoke, but I'll be whistling happily as I build my bomb shettle.
Besides, optimism doesn't necessarily mean you have to convince yourself that something great will happen, you just have to hope that it will.
Hmm...I probably just confused you...
