Dept. of Obliviousness...

I just got raided by a family of raccoons. The frickin' things were in my kitchen while I sat back here at the computer. I heard Cleo complain, but she wasn't doing her territorial death warble so I thought nothing of it. Then I heard more of a ruckus that sounded like she was tangled up between the cat flap in the screen door and the running ( Read more... )

My sister had a squirrel invade her bathroom once, it got cornered in the shower, and she said a cornered squirrel is an *ugly* thing!

Someone once posted a hilarious account of a squirrel invasion, though I don't think the invadee enjoyed it at the time. Don't have the link any more but it was a classic.

I'm sure glad I didn't corner mama or worse yet, her baby. She wasn't easy to shoo away, in fact I heard her later in the bushes and had to shut a window too in case she decided to go for the screen.

Yikes!

We had a mama raccoon with two babies living in the attic for about a month this summer (and, I blush to admit, being fed and watered by me every night because I felt sorry for her). Thankfully, once the kids could get around on their own the family moved on and Rich is determined to fix the place she got in before next year.

*sending hugs* Have fun this weekend mooting!

This has been a tough year for wildlife because we had a lousy spring, so I feel like a meanie shooing mama away, but knowing I'm protecting Cleo makes it easier. I'm surprised yours moved out with a ready food source available. I've seen this one hanging out with her babies when they were almost her size.

I'm so bummed that you won't be here mooting with us, and very sorry you have to start chemo again. That's just cruel timing. Hang in there, kiddo. I think of you a lot and will especially this weekend. *big hugs*
