To everyone I spoke to recently--I apologize. I must've said some awful things to you, but... I think I'm back to normal now. Please, if any of you had a sudden bout of--there's not many words for it--aggression? Hate? Then please talk to me. And anyone who grew any feathers or coughed blood as well. I've already heard of two cases similar enough, ( Read more... )

he's not catching a break, i am so so so sorry, so ends some terrifying shit, sob, back to normal

So you're saying you were infected with some sort of contagion?

It's the most likely conclusion. I didn't do anything to the town to get this, and when I vomited up some blood I seemed to be just fine afterward. But whatever it was, it made me a dark, horrible person for a while--and I didn't realize it at all.

I swabbed some of the blood for just that occasion, considering many here can do more than my timeline permits. Would you like me to bring it over?

[...Oh, please let her be wrong, please let her be wrong...]

Umm, wh-what happened exactly?

I'm not too sure--but I was suddenly not myself. Before I knew it I was insulting and goading people without even caring about it. And soon after that, my arm grew black feathers.

I'm pretty sure I'm healing up from whatever I was contaminated by, but others appear to be suffering from something similar as well...

F-feathers?! [She hasn't seen that yet...]

So you were... changing? Like how you treated people and felt about them?

Yeah. I treated people horribly--and felt differently than before. I couldn't control it.

Funny, Vimes actually once dealt with something like this without even realizing knurdcopper August 25 2010, 21:48:22 UTC
It seems a lot of people were affected this way the past few days. What happened exactly?

I really don't know, but I plan on finding out. I was suddenly just a hateful jerk... It wasn't too long before I grew a couple of feathers out of my arm. Luckily they went away after I threw up whatever was messing with me.

Looked like blood.

Hmmmm, it wouldn't be that Dwarf myth then. Thank you, I'll be looking into this. If you find out anything else, please let me know. This is Samuel Vimes. I've been trying to organize a Neighborhood Watch to help prevent this sort of thing.

Call me Hughes! A pleasure to meet you.

Aaaa, and I'm pleased to here that--Mayfield and some of the people trapped in it like pushing people's buttons. I hope you can find out more, Mr. Vimes.

Tell me what happened, miss. Anything you can think of before you started acting differently?

I was rude, cruel. Said the most horrible things to people....e...even my sisters.

Made fun of a little girl.

[And it's evident from her voice she feels terrible about this]

Uh...before? W..well I did go to th..that tea party you mentioned...

Aaa, someone must've slipped us something at that party, then. It's all pointing to that, anyway. And that little girl who made the tea...

If it wasn't just you it probably was the town, or at least someone here's doing, depending how many were affected which is likely. I'm just glad things seem to have calmed down now, at least. I'll see what I can figure out on my end too, Hughes.

...No need to thank me. You've done a lot more for us, here and back home.

You still deserve thanks--I don't know how much worse it could've gotten, without your help...

Be careful. I wouldn't want whatever's happening to get you, too.

Perhaps.

...I will. You know me, always careful, right?
