What the hell am I doing? I'm attending community college, fighting to get into an art school via scholarships and grants. I am unemployed, I have no idea where my art is going. I feel the same way...
because I accidentally spent a large chunk of my scholarship money on Mongolian Grill and fashionable clothing.

So, Steph, the stupid MF, will be praying for lots of christmas money!

god I feel the same way, no job, no money, want a chance to do what you want to do and on top of that you have to keep making good art.

It's so hard! It's so worth it but... it's so hard. At it's worst I forget that what I'm doing is meaningful and what I want to do; that I never played well in regular society's play-yard. At best is when I let that feeling lift me up instead of bring me down and get to work.

which art school?

well, I think on the brightside, if there should be one, you're not working for someone you totally despise. Or doing a job you don't want to be doing in the first place. I know plenty of people who planned all these big things: working as a magazine editor, becoming a teacher, blah blah and after they graduate from college they end up working for H&M.

And remember "Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around"

I wish you the best.

Thanks, Ruf. I haven't talked to you in so long.

I know what you mean about career plans though. One of my first jobs in San Francisco was an in-store reproduction artist for Tower Records. Whenever we were going through a hiring process we'd all joke that only the applicants who'd passed the bar exam were eligible to be hired as stock help.
