She knocked once on the door to signal her presence, and to catch his attention so he'd be looking at it when it opened, so he'd be able to see her hands. Then she slipped inside.
'Hello, Mr. Stark.'

She walks the rest of the way into the room, high heels clicking decisively on the floor until she's right next to the bed, standing right behind the tray of untouched food.
'You shouldn't let this get cold.'
She reaches for the packet of utensils, tearing it open for him, and then taking the fork to compile a bite of food.

She attempts to feed him, but he won't take it, and she rolls her eyes. 'You are such a baby.' She puts the bite in her own mouth and sets down the fork and prepares to tell him that it tastes fine, but her hands still and her face scrunches up. She shakes her head and grabs the napkin, spitting it out and dropping it on the tray, which she then picks up and takes to the trashcan in the corner, dumping it in.
Her face is still wearing a grimace as she walks back, high heels click click clicking. 'They can't honestly expect you to get well eating that stuff.' She pulls the portable tray over his lap and takes a brown paper sack out of her shoulderbag and setting it down on the bed. 'You can have my lunch. You need to eat something.'Cheeseburger and an order of fries. She sets it out on the lap table and starts tearing open ketchup packets, squeezing them out ( ... )

And he's eaten worse before. He lived off of rice, soup, and gruel for three months, even--tea dregs, too. It's also why, when he sees the cheeseburger, he remembers how he ordered Happy to bring the Rolls-Royce Phantom through a Burger King drive-thru and how he crawled up between the front seats and almost over Happy himself to get to the offered take-out bag: four cheeseburgers total and one drink. That was so long ago now, he thinks.
His jaw clicks to one side as he thinks on and resists the empty concave-feel to his stomach. "I'm not taking your food," Tony says to her.

She's got enough ketchup squeezed out now to dip the fries in. 'You don't want it?' She takes a can of cola out of her bag and puts it on the lap table, tapping the opening with her finger a few times to disperse the carbonation before she cracks it open.

"I'm not hungry," he says, sounding a little less certain, and then his stomach rumbles and he frowns down at it. Traitor.

Uhura sits on the edge of the bed, about even with Tony's hip, and picks up the burger. She unwraps it half way, folding the edges carefully back so that the sandwich is held in a little protective pocket of thick waxed paper. She looks at him again, holds his gaze, and takes a bite.
She's not going to make any noise, but the slow closing of her eyes and the tilt of her head and the smile while she chews is meant to indicate just how delicious it is. It is really fucking good. There's a reason she goes out of her way to this particular restaurant. She swipes at the corner of her mouth with her thumb, then sucks a bit of sauce off of it. She points to the burger, and then spells out with one hand. 'Sooooooo good.' She draws out the 'o' with her fingers, makes it bob a little in the air. 'You sure you don't want any?'

She's doing it on purpose. (Bete Noire whispers about gluttony and he almost finds that funny.) He stares back at Uhura with a flat expression and a slowly raised eyebrow. "Don't you think your boyfriend will have anything to say about this private show you're giving?"

Then to the burger.
And then he says, "You're not getting this back," and snatches it up for a gratuitous bite on its untouched side.

Out of the bag comes a pickle, cut into quarters lengthwise and wrapped in the same heavy paper. She unwraps it and takes a spear, biting off a large piece with an audible 'crunch' and a smile. She likes pickles. Simple pleasures. It's important to focus on them, especially here. For the next half hour she gets to fill a role that's lighthearted and easy before it's time to pack it away and be professional again, hard and aloof and detached.
'I'd leave if I thought you really wanted me to. If I believed it would be best for you.'
That's also something she wants him to known. She's determined and persistent and seemingly unshakable, probably more than a little annoying at times, but she's not dense.

Beats sitting in this room with only the city for company.
"You're fine where you're at," he decides, and then adds on, "The fries up for grabs, too?"
