This is Saïx, making his appearance like a good employee.

This is Saïx, standing on the beach in his black Organization coat.

He doesn't seem to be trying especially hard to enjoy himself. He's just kind of... standing there, watching the tide come in and out. This beach looks just like all the others he's seen on other worlds. It's a particularly pretty beach, yes, but still, it doesn't hold his interest.

He only has to be here long enough so that Owen will stay off his back about it later, so this is Saïx biding his time.

"Are you always this childish?" Saïx intones.

"I don't really see how that relates to anything at all," he stated lightly, paying it no heed for now.

"Your attempts at insults are juvenile at best," Saïx explains. His facial expression and tone have not changed, and show only boredom.

All the more boring for Draco. He rolled his eyes. "Right. Anything else, then?"

"Of course not." Is he going to leave now?

Never. "So you're just going to comment on my insults and not offer anything else? You must make a point of being difficult."

"I wonder why that might be."

"Obviously because you've no social skills to be seen."

Saïx looks at him now, expression blank and somber. "Have you considered what it would be like to lack a heart?"

"Not really. But I can't imagine it would actually impede basic manners that much. There's not that much emotion to be had in 'please' or 'hello'," Draco shrugged idly. "I think you just use that as an excuse so you do whatever you please."

"Imagine this," Saïx says, looking at him out of the corner of his eyes, just tilting his head enough to watch Draco's face. "You are not capable of emotions. You know you should be amused, or angry, or nostalgic, or annoyed, but you are not. Remember the process of making friends. It requires fondness, happiness, the ability to connect with another person, to understand their emotions and struggles. It requires a bond, which you cannot make.

"Now, imagine a boy coming to call just to entertain himself. In the past, he has been a nuisance at best, someone with a heart would say. As you do not have one, he has simply been in the way. He demands manners. But for what reason do you have to be polite? Has he earned the privilege of idle niceties? What is the point of pretending as such? He will just believe his behavior is excusable, that he is somehow still worth your time. Although it is unlikely he will learn otherwise, the possibility is still there. Might as well at the very least attempt vague kindness and make the effort ( ... )

Well, technically, the act of making friends - when Draco had most actively made them, at least - had been largely driven by what they could offer him. That said, he couldn't deny that there was emotion involved in it at least somewhat; he rolled his eyes all the same, not finding too many ways in which the conversation was benefiting him. Just as Saix had thought.

"Right. So you never learned manners as a child, and you're a prick. Or was there something else you were glazing over in the most passive-aggressive manner I've seen in a very long time?" He asked, sneering. He was reminding himself of when he was younger - not necessarily a good thing - but tried to ignore that little fact for the time being.

Ianto smiled softly and approached the other man, moving to join him on the sand of the beach, hoping they weren't going to stay out there out of the shade for too long because he was liable to fry in the sunlight otherwise.

"It's good that you could join us," he said, softly.

And here is one of the two people Saïx has been waiting for.

He turns and inclines his head. "It wasn't a difficult trip for me," he says. That is one reason why he's wearing his Organization coat: it protected him from the corridor of darkness.

Ianto nodded in return. "All the same. Thank you for coming. I know that you were originally pretty reluctant to take the time off and do so, but. It means something that you did make the effort to make an appearance. I hope you're not too warm in that coat, though," he said, nodding to the garment in question.
