This is Saïx, standing on the beach in his black Organization coat.
He doesn't seem to be trying especially hard to enjoy himself. He's just kind of... standing there, watching the tide come in and out. This beach looks just like all the others he's seen on other worlds. It's a particularly pretty beach, yes, but still, it doesn't hold his interest.
He only has to be here long enough so that Owen will stay off his back about it later, so this is Saïx biding his time.

For a moment, he's quiet. "Events such as these were extremely rare in the Organization I used to work for," he says finally. "There was no point in attempting to create emotional bonds, as we are not capable of them. The importance of my attendance to such a thing, even now, escapes me."

"That has not proven itself to be true." He's made it this far. He didn't start out alone, but he certainly ended up as such. This is something he can deal with. He shakes his head. "That is not to say I do not value teamwork and will not work with others, but it has been seen that I function best alone."
That isn't true. No matter how much Saïx says it or believes it now, it isn't true.

"I must be especially valuable to Hellsing, then," he comments dryly.

"It is amusing," he says idly, "how here, it is seen as a good thing, but if one such as I would say such a thing..."

"One can hope, yes." There are several ironies to the statement. Saïx cannot hope; Saïx is fully aware he thinks of Hellsing, and all other people, as "some sort of tool kit to use at [his] disposal"; the fact that Ianto likely knows this, but intends to treat him as a person anyway. That suits Saïx perfectly fine, but if he could be amused, he would be especially so.
"Have I fulfilled the required amount of time for attendance?" he intones now, as if he's missed the point.
