[ There’s a bang.

Piper gasps awake in a hospital bed, shooting straight up with her hands still as bloody and sticky as ever. They go to her stomach, where she peels away her shirt to see her wound slowly healing. Her hands still shake from what she remembers. It wasn’t a memory. Prue was standing right in front of her and she was in the Manor ( Read more... )

[ That's Mom. That's Mom, and she's in the hospital and there's blood on her hands. That's Mom, in the hospital, bloodied hands, calling for Prue. He can tell where she is, but to find the hospital and actually get there would take time he can't stand to lose.

For a moment, he's entirely speechless. Then, he finds a word: ]

WYATT!!

You just haven't found the right use for it yet.

[ Why all the hard questions, Piper? He's having a hell of a time keeping up when he has to try and keep the stories straight between two people with vastly different pools of knowledge. ]

Uh... mostly through hearsay. Leo Wyatt, right? Your whitelighter?

Yeah, my whitelighter and friend. [ And husband, but she's not really sure how far that story has travelled. But Leo's kind of her best friend, either way. A royal pain in the ass, but she wouldn't have him any other way. ] Funny, how your whitelighter shares the name of mine. [ Not that she's thinking much on it. She's met a few people with her name as the surname. ] Leo must be really slacking off with sharing the gossip because I've only ever heard vaguely about witches and their whitelighters. He's never mentioned anyone specifically, other than Natalie. [ Pain. But she had a good heart.

Moving on! ] The right use is to vanquish demons. Other than that, it's there to be annoying. [ She can't help but be proud when she says: ] I've only vanquished three so far.

[ And as he orbs on in, some sweats he got his hands on in...hand, he's mid-sentence. ]

Well, your husband may not be here, but we are and soon you will be re-clothed and not bloody. [ He grins, setting the folded clothing on the chair. ] Hope Chris has been takin good care of you. He can get carried away with the neuroticism, this one. [ He smirks. So, nervous before turns into overly peppy. ]

And if they don't work, I can get more.

[ Chris gives Wyatt an incredulous look, as if to ask 'why are you bringing me into this?' Then he just shakes his head. ]

Why don't we leave you for a minute while you... get changed. Then maybe we can head somewhere nicer before we pick things back up. [ Beat. ] If you want to, I mean.

[ Please want to, Mom. He's still not quite over his fright of you almost dying again. ]

I don't think he's gotten that far yet. [ She manages a smile for Wyatt, appreciative of the clothes. ] Thanks. You didn't have to go get them or anything. I'm sure they'd be fine. [ Better than her shirt. Despite the fact that it's just a shirt, she'd like to leave that five seconds of hell behind. ]

That'd be nice. [ Leaving these two without a clue of this place? Not smart. She doesn't need to wonder What Would Prue Do to figure that out. ] You sure there's somewhere nicer than this dump? [ She pulls a smile. This hospital is a piece of crap. She only hopes this Bete Noire looks a bit nicer. ]

A lot nicer. It's a hotel I'm staying at. And we know our way around. If you need a minute...

[ He walks towards the door using his head to tell Chris that they should mosy on out. ]

We'll just wait out there.

[ Chris nods and follows his brother into the hall. He goes far enough that they should be safely out of earshot as long as they don't raise their voices, then exhales and rubs at the bridge of his nose.

Oh, what a mess they've found themselves in. ]

[ When they're far enough away, he turns around, eyes very wide. ]

Chris Perry? Wyatt Matthews?

[ Despite already wanting to raise his voice, he goes for speaking sharply instead. ]

Do you have any idea what time she's from, Wyatt? We can't let her know who we are! To her, we don't exist yet!

Yes! Aunt Prue's alive. Mom was shot.

[ Harsh whispers. ]

Neither of us is born yet... [ He walks away, then back. ]

Shit. Shit, shit, shit, shit! [ He shakes his hand and runs a hand through his hair. ] So...we lie to her? For how long?

For how long? [ This should be obvious, bro. ] Until we get here out of here, that's how long. We can't risk messing this up.

We don't know how long that is! [ Usually? Calm and collected. But, Chris is making the kind of sense that doesn't make any sense. ] It's...Mom.

Exactly. Mom especially can't know. Whatever we say to her now could influence the future - our futures - in ways we can't imagine.

But, people keep saying we don't remember being here. How would it matter if she just ends up forgetting it in the end?

We don't know how complete that is. Even if she doesn't remember, it could still influence her somehow. Come to her in dreams or something.
