[ It doesn't seem like this kid is offering a job, so Chris doesn't feel the need to try and be frank with him. There's a reason he was vague about it, while still hopefully saying enough to draw interest. ]

[he's not redirecting to his bosses until he knows this guy is qualified; the last thing he needs is someone like this on his name.]

And are you and your vague answers having any luck actually finding takers?

Yeah, actually. Already had an offer. [ And it sounds like he might be getting another. ]

Well, far be it for me to see if you deserved another, then. I'm sure everyone's dying for purely intellectual magical stuff. [yes, he's still on that. Gods, the vocabulary there is killing him.]

You're really hung up on that, aren't you?

Look. What I meant is that I know a lot of things about supernatural creatures and mixtures from years of studying, but I'm not magic myself. Thus the "purely intellectual".

[and yes, he is. But he's not acknowledging that he was ever asked.]

How in the world could you know all of that, but not be magical yourself?

I really don't see how that is what matters. In my world, you'd be Obliviated faster than you can say 'Quidditch'.

[ He can at least infer that Obliviated is something bad, and it would be better not to ruin his credentials completely right off. ]
