Thanks for the mammaries.....

Yesterday morning, a younger girl applied tape to my nipples and arranged my breasts on a tray.  It was a helluva way to start the morning.

I am speaking, of course, about my first mammogram.  I was actually supposed to get my baseline done at 35 and had successfully put it off for two years.  Call it a late birthday gift to myself for the year, in ( Read more... )

Apparently I lucked out. The other tech is "brutal," a friend told me. I feel like I won the bobby lottery!

I'm in a similar situation in that I've put off getting a baseline mammogram and now I'm 39. So I guess that should be on my "To Do" list. (To be fair, I've had so many other health issues to deal with that the thought of another test just set my teeth on edge.)

It's great that you had such a good interview!

It's a pain in the ass but it is a bit of a relief to have had it done, I have to admit.

congrats on your first mammo! Was it a digital one? I hear a lot of places are going with those now, they are faster and more accurate.

I have not had one yet because my insurance won't pay for it till I am 40

I've heard that a lot, that insurance companies won't pay until you're 40. It didn't seem to be a digital one - they used the photo tray things (I am shockingly technical on this) just like a regular xray. I think I was just relieved that it wasn't all medieval torture.

I still don't know if I'm in the clear about Disney or not!!!! It's so frustrating. I've decided, tho, that I'm going to pay for my room and dining plan and whatnot this week and just commit. Penn is doing a background check and I had to re-do an application, so something tells me I'll have to re-interview and everything. Assuming that all takes a few weeks, I may be able to have some flexibility with my start date and it'll all work out. The bad case scenario is that they call me this week and want me to start next week, or something. Funny that the bad case scenario *still* involves me getting a job that I want, so how upset can I be here?

I don't think so. Going for the higher position, they can't just fill it with any warm body. And in their email to me last week, I am their "candidate of choice." So, if they're going to go through the whole process again and higher somebody over who they wanted because of one week.....I dunno. I'm really hoping there's some logic to that!

Hey, that sounds awesome! (the job part, not the mammogram part)

Someone else commented saying you're going to Disney(land/world)??? When are you going? We went with another couple, a few years ago, and seriously, it was one of the most fun weeks I've had EVER.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I am a fan of Disneyworld. Disneyland, I can take or leave, but Disneyworld just rocks my boat. We're going the 3rd week of March, which really rocks, because I can't wait to get out of the snow and into some nice Florida weather!
