Apparently the Chinese are getting the joy of joining in to aid their fellowman, without encouragement from the government.

Three weeks ago I was standing at the Sacred Plaza of Machu Picchu panting for breath, not sure I could continue.  And then we climbed up more staircases even higher to the Intiwatana stone.  Our guide was trying to explain the significance of this washer-dryer-sized pink granite stone, but I had grown weary of trying to decipher her language.
