Went to fair for sole purpose of winning goldfish. Ended up with three males. Tried to get a female for breeding, but they only had males and it took ten successful tries at the shoot-the-kangaroo booth to get even one. Hypothesis: Life is not fair ( Read more... )

Dumped a whole bottle of paprika into his tank. He did not seem happy, but he asked for it.

Bought tiny shark. Trying to decide if we should give it guppies or goldfish. Hate both. Hypothesis: The Betta will eat the guppies more happily now, especially since every demand he makes will be twisted.

A response to our message was found, this time scratched on the side of the vase, seemingly with a sharp rock: "fyn guppys r ok but cant i at least hav paprika?" Hypothesis: This will eventually be known as "The Guppies vs. the Betta of NIMH".

Don't know which fish tastes better-so I posted an ultimatum on the tank: Guppies or pellets. Reply in rocks by 12:00 tomorrow or its back to dried food. Await your response eagerly. Hypothesis: This will stop his whining, and I won't have to buy dried fish food anymore. If he can write, he can read.

Guppies appear to have amazing sex drives and have been breeding like rabbits. A new tank may be needed. In addition, a note spelled out in rocks was found on the bottom of the betta's vase: "guppys r bland. want more variety". Got an award for disposing of said PETA persons. After strenuous negotiations to prevent us from killing more, our side prevailed.

On a side note, our beta regurgitated the guppy we tried to feed it this morning. Hypothesis: Will need new Betta to conduct experiments

Woke this morning to the sound of... bullhorns. It appears that PETA had spies on my livejournal and found out about our little experiment. Neither the guppies nor the betta appear to appreciate the noise, and both appear to be rather stressed out. Hypothesis: Nobody will really care if a few PETA people go missing.

Went out and bought our friend another prize-a girlfriend. While this may seem like a blessing, it is really so we can experiment with more fish. And breeding them is much cheaper than buying.

Guppies are DEFINITELY smarter than what was first hypothesized. Sharkbait was spotted today trying to work his fins to flip off the betta. Hypothesis: Guppies are potty mouths and will stop at nothing to figure out how to work this hand gesture...
