First: when she says "clarifier," she means dechlorinator, right? To take the chlorine/chloramines out of the water and make it safe for fish? (Water clarifier is something else altogether, used for clearing the water of a cloudy tank, and is usually best avoided ( ... )

The weird thing about Jack is that i babysat him for 2 weeks and he didn't float at all, so I'd say it's a recent development. she did say he was floating before she brought him to me, but i didn't see any of that at all.

My betta gets very attached to certain plants, and does the circling thing that you mention when he's happy. Although my betta doesn't rub against his plants like that, so it could be some sort of parasite, too. He likes to hide under one or two plants in particular, and will sometimes lazily flare at me without moving, because he enjoys his spot. Magus was also in love with a stuffed animal of mine for the longest time; he's not as obsessed with it as he was many months ago, but he'll often hang out right next to it. So yes, bettas can develop interesting attachments ( ... )
