Weekly Question #24 by Tsuki

I'm actually supposed to be on hiatus, but I realized that I still didn't ask my question for this week yet! My question is a typical stereotype (quite a large one, actually) about one of the members that honestly bothers me quite a bit.

Do you think Ohno is really unmotivated? Why or why not?

To be honest, this is one of the main stereotypes that really gets on my nerves. (The other ones being Nino a heartless jerk, Aiba a real idiot, etc.)

My answer is simply: No. It's not that he's unmotivated. I think it's more of a lack of interest, because when you look at what he's accomplished, he does his best for everything he loves. Taking a peek into his dance career, he dropped out of school and moved to Kyoto for the opportunity to dance on stage for, hopefully, many people. To me, this really shows accents the quality of not hesitating to go after something you love and care about. Because if you look at what we can see of Ohno's personality, you can see that he's not a person who hesitates; he's direct, and once he knows what he wants, he'll go for it.

Another example would be his art. After ten years of doing a "simple hobby" (as he calls it), he had his solo art exhibition. In order to make all those figurines, he set up punishments for himself. "If I don't make a figurine by the end of the night, I'll shave my eyebrows off!" I think an unmotivated person would just forget about it and sleep.

And another: fishing. Yes, it's a hobby, and yes, it's not very "idol-like" or "an amazing talent" to most people. But if you seriously look at how much he goes fishing, it's really quite something. (laughs) Instead of sleeping during his free time between Maou shooting, he'd get on a boat and go fishing in Okinawa. Fishing for over 25 hours, being earnestly focused on the boat, etc.

There are honestly a lot of other things I could go on about to show that Ohno's really not unmotivated, but I think I'll stop here for today. :]

Can't wait to read your guys' answers! And don't forget to answer kireiyakusoku 's question about your opinion on how Arashi and their style has progressed over their ten years.
