All my fears about moving back home were affirmed this past thanksgiving. There is something seriously wrong with my step Dad. There’s something wrong when a 23 yr old is afraid to go into the kitchen and he paces back and forth in the hallway until his stepfather leaves

I think the step dad teaches a lot about family and graitude. My dad is totally fucked in a similar way, Im trying to see him as a sick person instead of just a complete asshole. All his stomping, yelling, lecturing, I believe its all fear based, fear of being unimportant or alone or something. I dont know, it makes him a lot less scarey to me. Still I havent seen him in almost a year.

until you can get back to new orleans you can call our apartment home. i promise we won't make you ever, ever set foot in any place that will promise you all you can eat and then give you luke warm mac & cheese.

you asked us once if we'd adopt you - can't do it, your dad wouldn't allow it and i'm in no fucking position to be anyone's mom, but we call shelter you for a while. happily so.
