Bela, on the other hand, actually manages to make it to the hot chocolate. She has been out all day and is desperately in the need of something warm. What she gets, however, makes her feel a little bit warmer than she anticipated. It spreads through her fingers and all along her body just from holding it, and as she drinks it, her demeanor lightens considerably.

She smiles. She's sociable. You could almost say she's actually being nice. Anyone who knows her would be astonished.

She's decided to stay out in the cold for a little while -- probably for however long this lasts, and has taken her time just walking around the park an enjoying the weather.

Oh, and there's mistletoe too.

Bela approves of your expensive and dashing suit, Nikolas. She's always been a sucker for a man who knows how to dress, and this person certainly does.

"It's been happening to me all day," she says with a bit of a shrug. "I think there might be some kind of Rift affect at work."

"Has it? I apologize for being someone else to add to the overwhelming list, then," he says, but there's a slight smile curving at the corners of his mouth as he gallantly takes a step backward. "It's the guess I'd hazard, but considering this is my first time dealing with Rift-related holiday afflictions, I'm likely not the best person to ask."

He takes a deep breath and bows his head in greeting. "Nikolas Cassadine."

"Bela Talbot," she replies with a nod. "And this isn't my first time, unfortunately. Enchanted mistletoe seems to be par for the course as far as holiday events are concerned."

"A pleasure to meet you, Bela Talbot. Despite the ... intriguing, shall we call them? Circumstances." He stares up at the mistletoe with a small frown. It doesn't sit well with him that there's something taking advantage of people like that, making them kiss.

"There's nothing to be done to get rid of it?"

"None that I've found," she sighs as she looks up as well. "Like most things manufactured by the Rift, they're a tad bit indestructable."

"Can I invite you for a cup of coffee, in that case? I was on my way over and--" he scrunches up his face a little. "I can't exactly pinpoint from where, but I've heard your name before."

She can't help but be a bit curious when he puts it like that, so she nods. "I would love one, actually. Thank you." She starts to walk in the direction he had indicated, looking him over curiously. "Have you been in Chicago long?"

"Great," he says, flashing her a smile before he offers the crook of his arm, should she need it to walk in the snow. He looks up at the sky, thinking far back now. "Depends on one's definition of 'long.' It's certainly felt so--but it's only been months, really."

And then it hits him. "...Josef Soltini. I worked with him briefly. I believe he mentioned you."

Bela will take that arm, because that kind of breeding should not go ignored, and she listens as he speaks, but it isn't until Josef's name is mentioned that she actually starts paying attention.

"I worked for Josef for a long time," she says slowly. "Surprising how many friends he had in various places."

"I don't know if we'd have called each other friends, but I was under his employment. One of his branches within the corporation. He gave me a job when not many would give Wanderers jobs off the bat," he explains, and that alone would've had Josef gaining some respect in Nik's mind.

Despite the other things that were oh-so-questionable about him.

"He did the same for me," she nods. "It was for that that I considered him a friend, more than anything else."
