And now, a brief update

So, wow, it has been a long time since I posted here. I haven't been feeling very verbose in print this year... though I do have a small collection of half-written entries I never finished. But in the meantime, life has happened ( Read more... )

Congratulations!

No, I'm not going to find out the baby's sex in
advance. I'm not going near an ultrasound machine, unless something is evidently wrong. I am content to be curious.

Congrats on the sex thing too. One of the last great surprises we have around, IMHO. Get ready for yellow and white baby gifts galore! :)

I wouldn't be too afraid of the ultrasound as a measure to look at teh baby and see if things are okay, but you have your own preferences. If you do get one as a look for the docs to make sure all is well, be sure to let the operator know that you're not planning on finding out the sex so they don't slip and say "his" or "her".

Congrats! :)

Thank you! And yeah, I'm sure there will be a lot of yellow and white. And green. My Mom made the green sweater set in advance, because she knew we wouldn't tell her the baby's sex anyway. ;)

As for the ultrasound... I'm not overly afraid of it, just cautious. I've read some research that gives me pause about its routine use. I'll still be willing to use it if there are signs that something is wrong, but I'll skip the routine just-to-be-sure checks. But then, I'm kind of a hippie when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth. ;)

I have friends who were very much this way.

I totally respect your decisions and wishes. I think the decision to stay home that first year (or more) will be more appreciated in the long term, but, hey, people have been doing it long enough without the technology, so we know our (well, half of 'our' - your) bodies know how.

I really do hope all goes well enough that you can deliver the way you want. :)

You know how happy we are for you. And offer the same service, that the both of you provided for us, even just in sitting outside of the house with a candel and being moral support!

It's funny we did the samething, but both of us pretty much knew that we would have a daughter (even without any fore knowledge)

The other thing that we will do, is for after you birth the little one (when you guys are up for visitors) we offer to cook, or clean, or do laundry (whatever needs to be done that day. It was really heplful having people do that for us.)

Hey, that's WONDERFUL! Congratulations!

I'm delighted that you're feeling well, and that you already know what you don't want to know. ;)

Congratulations!!!!

I mimic everyone else in the feelings about finding out the baby's sex. I think it's definitely better and more fun to wait.

You're going to make a great mom! Good Luck!!!
