Boy, seems like Mark is looking past the job at hand (writing the gospel)to get outside to play. He seems to pass on lots of the big stories that are in the other gospels, the repentance of one of the men crucified with Jesus and the forgiveness Jesus asked for the men who actually crucified him. I'm sorry I'm late on this; I've been busy but also I have to admit I had a hard time pulling anything out of these two chapters.

About all I can toss out is how Mark is full of secrets and puzzling details. lucy_indisguise mentioned the cursing of the fig tree, which makes no sense. Why would Jesus curse a fig tree for not having figs in season? ( Read more... )

Mark 13 & 14. 14 is long, 13 is short. This is also the pre-game show for the Crucifixion. Last time we read about this Event it was Holy Week and everyone was busy. This time we're reading in August so perhaps we'll have more time.

Mark 11 and 12. Jesus makes a grand entrance into Jerusalem and cleanses the temple.

Mark 9 and 10 for the weekend. The compassion of Jesus, the Transfiguration, miracles and things starting to look ominous.

In these two chapters we have a continuation of a theme, which just means this was important to the Gospel writer. We again have Jesus putting acting in a just and compassionate manner over the Law.
