One problem that I'm having with Luke is that since it's a synoptic Gospel, a lot of what's said in it is material we've already seen twice before. Chapters 5 and 6 are a case in point, as we find similar parables and behaviours from Jesus. As mentioned before, Luke's Gospel is the only one that comes with a mission statement. Having felt other accounts of the life and teaching of Jesus and found them lacking, Luke has gone and doen research in order to put out a version that new Christians can be confident is true ( Read more... )

I think it's a shame that the Virgin Birth story has gotten to be such a big honkin deal in Christianity. Now let me quick say that I don't have any problem suspending disbelief enough to accept that it could have happened that way.
