well, you probably would have been slightly more impressed by it if you hadn't read mark haddon's second novel first. you got his "second effort" as your first impression of his writing, so his "first effort" wasn't quite as intriguing. in other words, people (usually) improve with each book they write and so the second novel is usually better written than the first. (not always, i emphasize :p) but of course there's no way to go back in time and find out if you would have liked this better had you read it first, or if you'd have continued onto spot of bother.

anyway, there is no point to this comment.

I actually completely agree with you here. The book itself was slightly boring (I didn't read his second book as I didn't even know it existed so I'll judge this book on it's own) but I took a lot away from it- as you mentioned above- about what I take for granted and living with a condition such as Asbergers.
Also- LOVE your icon! I've used that book in almost all of my history essays!
