I nominated the book for the Distinguished List and then thought it would quickly die as many voted No. I'm convinced that the older librarians are the ones who are voting no, so I was hoping that one of the librarians under 40 would read and vote. So now it's not going to die just yet. I think I would have felt really embarrassed if everyone voted it down. At least now there are some yes votes, so I don't feel as bad. I think it's just a perfect middle school book and also great for reluctant readers and a good pick for a hi-lo book.

i do think that you're right that it's older librarians voting no on it. at the last book selection meeting i was at, we were discussing the same thing. namely, that we'd really like to see the book appear get some official recognition, but that's it's probably not going to happen. i actually had trouble getting a copy of it, because the two copies i bought for our library were always checked out, so i agree about it being a great pick for reluctant and non-readers.
