The Book Has Landed
We have the final Potter book. Two copies, actually, one regular, one slipcover because we're geeky fans like that. The Borders "Grand Hallows Ball" was nice, lots of interesting costumes, etc., though there were too many little wizards bouncing off the walls. Carvel Ice Cream Mascot
Beth thinks I'm insane. Or rather, she knows I am. But anyway, I swear to you that there is a voice in the Akon song "Don't Matter" that sounds just like the Carvel ice cream cake mascot's voice from the 1980s. Anyone remember that little guy? Harry Potter is coming
Just returned from Borders to pick up our number for the book pick-up tonight. They started giving out numbers at 9 AM, we got there a little after 1 PM. We are #313. Oh well. Mid-June Update
Things are going well down here in Durham. Beth and I will be departing our trip to California and Hawaii on Tuesday, so we've been spending the last few days getting the house in good order, as painful as that can be. Mid-May Update
Still alive down here in NC. I survived a three day long conference on War, Politics, and Gender (US and Europe), 1775-1820. It was a pretty hardcore conference -- run by a German, of course -- with 10-12 hours of presentations and comment every day. Things have been going well. Neglected to mention a dinner and boozing session we went to on Monday. The dinner was a farewell dinner for one of Beth's grad students who is returning to Germany. We've been able to get a lot of little things taken care of around the house the last couple days and have run approximately one million errands. We picked up some grilling-related stuff, four chairs for the back balcony, and a table, along with four cucumber plants.
