Looks like a cool little place! I like the fireplace a lot...wish we had one. Is the scary gnome building across the street? I'd hate to have a view of that every morning when I wake up, though I guess it could become a festive elf around Christmas time... ;-)

The fireplace doesn't work, though, unfortunately. We don't know what we're going to put in it yet, my vote is some candles.
And that building was an apartment we'd looked at on the first day of searching. It's not across from us, thankfully, it's down another street.

I vote for candles too! I saw a really cool thing on some home improvement show (not sure which one) where they put mirrors against the walls and floor inside the fireplace and then put white candles in it. It looked really nice, and the way the mirrors reflected the burning candles gave it a really cool glow.
