Marybeth managed to slip away from her father at some point and go 'sploring. Apparently she had inherited his genes, since she ended up at Zoe's office.

"Hi!" she waved, entering the room and smiling at the pretty lady behind the desk. She noticed the kids coloring and waved to them.

Zoe smirked and leaned in to whisper to Marybeth, loud enough for Cameron to hear though. "It's okay, I let Grace put lots of sugar on her waffles this morning. So your daddy's doing a better job than I am."

Marybeth giggled and impulsively wrapped her arms around Zoe's neck. "You're a nice lady," she decided. "I'm glad Daddy named his car after you."

"I'm glad he did too," Zoe said, laughing. "And you're a very sweet girl."

Cameron was beaming despite his embarrassment. "She can be very sweet when she's not biting people's hands," he agreed. He was still going to talk to Veronica about that.

"I'm a good girl," Marybeth insisted. "And mommy says that when I go to school, I can have a real taser!"

Cameron facepalmed. "You kick shins and bite hands. You don't need a weapon," he told her. "I swear she gets this from her mom," he then added quickly.

"I'll take your word on that. You've never struck me as a taser sort of person."

"Mommy says it's 'portant to know how to protect yourself if you're gonna be a 'vestigator," Marybeth recited.

"And she has a very good point," Zoe said. "Keep biting and kicking when you're in trouble, and you'll be fine."

"Dude, you're not helping!" Cameron protested before he remembered who he was talking to. "Uh. I mean ma'am. Sorry, ma'am. I'll show her how to protect herself once she's taller than her mom."

Cameron's reaction set Zoe laughing again. "Make sure you do that. That's what fathers are for."

"I will, ma'am," he promised and placed a hand on Marybeth's shoulder. "I should probably let you go as you seem to have your hands full as well. Say bye to the nice lady, Marybeth."

"Bye!" Marybeth said, waving frantically.

"Goodbye," Zoe said, waving to both of them, and waiting for them to leave before laughing again.

"Bye, ma'am," Cameron waved too as he led Marybeth out of the office and started explaining her why she shouldn't wander off like that. Or embarrass him in front of the principal.
