It finally hit me why I hate arguing about things on the internet. More often than not, it's a "logic" argument, that completely ignores the underlying concepts

Very sorry to hear about your friend. Glad you were able to part on good terms; that's an excellent policy.
(I used to never want to go to bed angry/in-a-fight-with whatever woman I was dating, because "what if one of us just didn't wake up the next day?" However some folks apparently can't make-up until they sleep on it, I guess...fortunately nobody died in those cases.)
The Rachel Dolezal thing does indeed highlight how completely twisted this country is about race, I'd agree with that 100%.
I just wish some random crazy white lady who wants to be black wasn't the only angle on "race" that people seem to be interested in. The tabloidy news sites like Gawker have done about 20 stories each on her just since Friday, and basically the entire story is "white person claims to be black". It's too bad that this much attention isn't paid nationally to tearing down color lines and destroying the concept of race for future generations, rather than reinforcing it by making national news of pathological liars who get caught trying

Salah, I'm so so sorry to read that about your friend. Bc you have such an even keel, the last conversation you had was the best of all possibilities. You're such a good person.
I am really sorry about the loss of your friend. It's pretty magical that you can find peace in the wake of that, because you know you ended a tough conversation the right way. I can't say that about a few people in my life.
I have really appreciated your words on this whole weird Rachel Dolezal thing both here and on facebook. Those words have broadened my perspective. Thank you!
Also, I thought of you lots on my big ride BECAUSE remember that time I was an upside down drunk fool who fell down in the park? Well, that still is a pain in the neck, especially when I am biking to LA. But thinking about the great day I had while falling made me smile through until I visited the Chiro at night. So thanks for that, too.
So sorry to hear about your friend, Salah! What are the chances that this would happen right after a spat too? At least you guys parted on good terms. Real relationships are about how you react to the spats, not the fact that you have spats to begin with. If anything, spats are EVIDENCE that the relationship is real because, as you said, you wouldn't be spatting unless it was worth it.
