I think poignancy is a much better goal for poetry than seeing how many adjectives, adverbs and prepositional phrases you can squeeze into a stanza. (Reread my original entry for a prime example of the latter.) Actually, that sentence you wrote more closely resembles the poetry I've writing as of late. And where would hip hop be without dirty metaphors? Speaking of hip hop, I am listing to Resident Antihero:

Self-medication
a generation of kids stumbling around high
inheriting your problems and not wondering why
creating problems in multiples that are greater than pi

I remember you being amused by that line. Perhaps you don't...anyway it made me think of you. I miss you too.
