A poorly written entry

For the last few weeks, at least -- maybe since coming to live at the school -- I've been pretty scattered. I haven't been acting very intentionally, and because things at the school are so much less ordered than the assignments and tasks of my life up 'til now -- definitely college, and even at the farm I assigned myself tasks -- I've been flying ( Read more... )

I can't believe I forgot to call you yesterday! Next weekend will you be home?

No, but if you tell me when you want to call me, even during the week, I can be around to get the call. You'll just have to call the school phone. If you want to call next weekend, I don't yet have plans other than Saturday morning and early afternoon. If you want to call during the week, it's usually best to call sometime after 7. But either way, let me know -- there's only one phone in this house, and I don't hear it unless I'm nearby.

Douglas Adams really was a genius. It was one of his writings which convinced me to become an atheist. (Not something in the Hitchhiker's series, something in the Salmon of Doubt.) You'd like it--he talks in that essay about how money is fictional, just like god.

The thing that took me by surprise was that I'd read these books years ago, and they brilliantly addressed a lot of issues I would spend my college years trying to work out, but I didn't remember them at all when I first started really struggling with questions of morality and happiness.

Just want to say "hi"

I was just thinking about you last night, and wondering how you are. I hope your lists help you feel less scattered -- I could certainly use a method myself.

I know your journal is for whatever YOU want to use it for, but I just want to say that I liked hearing a little bit about what's actually going on with you :) Especially since I'm often to lazy to call or write emails! btw -- are you still using the same email address?

Take Care

I'm still using the same e-mail address, and I'd love to hear from you, too, if you have the time.

I'm definitely still in an adjusting phase, still trying out new routines for this new life I'm in. I imagine I'll keep having these regular changes and shifts for most of my first year here.
