Wonderful comments too - I've enjoyed reading the subsequent discussions. And you're definitely not the only one who thinks there is a HUGE difference between the way 18-month-olds and 18-year-olds learn. My word.

One thing I really do love about my friends is that they actually take the time to read and think about this kind of thing. I've been very lucky to bump into some super smart and thoughtful people (present company definitely included).
I think in the first week of fall term, I'm going to act as though my 18-yr-olds are 18-month-olds and see what that gets me.
