Bones Fic: Losing My Religion~ Part 6

Thursday does not find him in his normally jubilant mood. What with having nearly lost his mind and all.

The only saving grace was Olivia working the graveyard shift last night; he has no clue how he would have explained making an even more complicated mess of things.

A mess that culminated in the necessity of a cold shower and a handful of ( Read more... )

Yayyy I love it! Yes for Jealous Booth. I am not even kidding, that is totally what we need right now. In my opinion at least, your Booth is totally more in character right now than on Bones. So cute! More more

I really love the job that you're doing with a rather complex situation that could easily turn into a fairly unappetising mess (on the show, or in fiction).

There's this line that defines your story for me: "Self-preservation created this impasse between them; forced him to pull himself far enough out of her orbit for the space to eclipse the way he burns under her light." I really like the way you restore the characters' integrity in a way which we haven't really seen on the show.

Thanks for a lovely update and I'm looking forward to more!

Thank you so much! I'm really trying to give Booth perspective, and maybe some somewhat understandable reasons for his behavior. So glad you're enjoying this!

Oh Booth, my man! You are floundering!

You have given us this conflicted, confused, insecure, jealous Booth, and you have written him perfectly. (And Cam, Ange and Brennan.) So happy you have continued with this.

Now this is where my incredibly late reading pays off. Ch. 5 was just last week! Thanks for the really fast update! ;)

Great opening paragraph! It's really sets us right back into the story. Poor Booth...

I really liked this line in particular: This may have been the first time in a long while that his control slipped enough to allow it, but he’s been responding to her like that since the day they met. It really goes a long way to showing how stretched Booth is that his control is cracking. But it also illustrates his own admission that she still affects him just as strongly as ever.

And this one: Because the desire to know her again is a tight fist around his heart. Just lovely and so very descriptive.

It's good to see Booth being responsible here and having the courage to man up to what he's done. That's the Booth I know and love (and miss in canon...)

You show us so skillfully how big the chasm between them is now and how far away Booth is from here: A year and a half ago, he would have been going to that launch with her. Now ( ... )

I don't want to get into dissing Show here, but I just can't believe the wealth of opportunity they're missing in showing us Booth's mental and emotional state. The character we knew pre-personality transplant would be conflicted, and even when involved in a relationship with someone else would still care about his friendship with Brennan. I'm trying to balance all that with his desire to move on, and I'm glad that it's working for you. Thanks so much for the comments!
