There's this line that defines your story for me: "Self-preservation created this impasse between them; forced him to pull himself far enough out of her orbit for the space to eclipse the way he burns under her light." I really like the way you restore the characters' integrity in a way which we haven't really seen on the show.

Great opening paragraph! It's really sets us right back into the story. Poor Booth...
I really liked this line in particular: This may have been the first time in a long while that his control slipped enough to allow it, but he’s been responding to her like that since the day they met. It really goes a long way to showing how stretched Booth is that his control is cracking. But it also illustrates his own admission that she still affects him just as strongly as ever.
And this one: Because the desire to know her again is a tight fist around his heart. Just lovely and so very descriptive.
It's good to see Booth being responsible here and having the courage to man up to what he's done. That's the Booth I know and love (and miss in canon...)
You show us so skillfully how big the chasm between them is now and how far away Booth is from here: A year and a half ago, he would have been going to that launch with her. Now ( ... )
