Do you know if gouache paints would be ok? They're similar to watercolours so they should be alright but I'm not sure

Only if they don't have oil in them. I would suggest asking their contents at your local hobby store.

this is so late, but i just saw the commment while reading through bjd_wtf and gouache paints are fine, i've used them on my dolls before. i like gouache best since it can be acrylic or watercolor depending on how much water is added :)

That's the main reason I was wondering (because it can be like acrylics or watercolour)

Thanks so much =]

You wouldn't know what a magic block was? I saw it on LUTS site, and I wondered what it was :)

It's a sort of sponge that you can use to erase faceups/marks/stains on your doll when you add water to it.

You can buy them from Wilkinsons if you live in the UK. I don't know where you'd get them elsewhere but stores would probably have them near the cleaning products - washing up liquid/bleach etc

Thank you! Is it a normal sponge, or does it work in some special way? Do you absolutely need it to clean your doll?

I think it's made out of a certain material that's really good at cleaning stuff XD (or something like that)

You don't ABSOLUTELY need it to clean your doll. Before I found one, I just used a cloth and some toothpaste - it works surprisingly well 8D

Acetone anonymous June 5 2008, 07:17:14 UTC
Causes the resin to melt,so it definitely shouldn't be used.

This is only true of some resins. Some have no reaction at all.

faceups anonymous December 6 2008, 00:35:44 UTC
i am getting my first bjd and i'm really confused about sealing and removing makeup.
i know msc is the best, but honestly its really expensive and i don't want to pay that much.
what's a cheaper alternative, and what's the best thing to use to remove a face up?

You can use cheaper sealants, but you get what you pay for.

I absolutely would not use hair spray.

I use rubbing alcohol to remove faceups, but other people use other things.
