It would be a very interesting piece for someone to do a comparison of Hezbollah's rebuilding of Lebanon and the Bush administration's rebuilding of New Orleans.

thank you for posting this, especially for the legions of naysayers who believe that hezbollah are some kind of terrorist.

well, let's remember, Hezbollah are terrorists. They were one of the pioneers of suicide bombing in the middle east, and they indiscriminately drop rockets on civilians. But they are also a huge charity organization and a member of the Lebanese parliament, making the whole thing much more complicated than the Bush Admin wants to admit.

I am no fan of Hezbollah, but their abilty to step up and rebuild southern lebanon (which their actions helped to destroy) might help explain why many people in the world are fans of Nasrallah.

ok i meant not in the bush "islamofascist" sense. but i can admit that until this crisis, i knew very little about lebanon, and still know little. im not up to reading about 10 books on the situation, but i'm always up for input, or quick links.

I liked this in the story about Bush:

Participants said Mr. Bush appeared serious and engaged during the lunch, which lasted more than 90 minutes, as the experts went through a lengthy discussion of the political, ethnic, religious and security challenges in Iraq.

That should not be newsworthy. But it is.
