I've done this before and I posted it on soompi, but I'll bring it over to livejournal with some other additional info and some corrections (:

Names are not just names. They have a meaning. Every name has a meaning.
So what do Super Junior's members' names mean?

Check it out under the cut.

i believe it's mostly phonetical.
they basically choose characters that kinda sound or mean the same thing.
like:
김 ( kim ) → 金 ( jin/gaum )
이 (ee) → 李 (li/lee)
the same can be done with english names.
for example my english name is Sarah, so my korean name is 사라 ( saa ra~ )

It's not a coincidence that their names fit them because those are their stage names ^^; The meaning is on purpose.
