Last night I watched Bulgaria's Forgotten Children on BBC2. I'm going to attempt to voice some opinions here, so forgive me if I get a) wordy, b) emotional, and c) offend anyone. Apart from the Bulgarian government, but we'll get onto them.

I had no idea this programme was on, and I came downstairs after popping up to get something after The ( Read more... )

That is... just horrible. Thank you for making me aware of it. I wonder if there is anything at all we can do to help?

Amnesty are a safe bet as a place to start, though the only article I can find on Blugaria is two years old: http://www.amnesty.org.uk/news_details.asp?NewsID=15944 .

Writing to your MP is always a good option. (http://www.writetothem.com/) I'd suggest also writing to David Milliband (Foreign Secretary) as well.

Different league to Super Nanny! That never made me cry with frustration and sadness. Those are just parents who don't know what to do. These are children who never even get spoken to, so half of them have never learned how to talk.

This will probably get a lot of attention and funds now. Charities like Children In Need give millions to things like this every year. I think this is a Good Thing...I like the art auction idea...if you find out this is getting gazliions and loads of attention, would you divert efforts elsewhere, to causes that don't make such great documentaries?

Possibly, depending on whether I find something I actually care about enough. This is the first time I've actually been moved enough to try and do something. That makes me sound very heartless, I know!
