In Photoshop, open an appropriate pic, select the lasso and feather it to about 30. Select the area you want to stay the most focussed (a fairly small area), then inverse the selection. Choose Gaussian Blur from the menu and blur to about 2. Deselect everything and work your way outward as above until the very edges are the most blurry. Just experiment with the strength of the blur each time and voila! That's all there is to it. =)
Don't worry! My host is having "problems", but I've emailed them and I'm waiting for it to resolve. To be honest, I think the staff are fucking around in the snow rather than actually working. :/ Shouldn't be too long until everything is back up. :P
