Not long enough!
Latest linocut. It probably ought to have colour, but then it's not really finished yet. Not sure if I'll I finish it this weekend or try something new. The the,e "Rapunzel" seemed to catch things I like (turrets) or wanted to play with (curves, trees) so seemed like fun....

Bat for lashes again!
Seems like this was probably my fourth time - caught the festival warm-up in Cambridge by Bat for Lashes. Very good, very inspiring, the color and movement would do well to inspire for my life drawing class. Some promising new songs too, though nothing so far quite as astounding as Daniel, but the makeovers of the old songs are fantastic and really ( Read more... ) -
Linocuts
And here are the two most recent linocuts. The idea with both was to do a multi-color thing, but I can't settle on how to use color for the buildings (which are my college's great hall) so thinking instead of a two color angel. Some of this has already been trimmed away and a second one's on the way.

Boston and books
Ok, went on a business trip to Boston. Report...
"Degas and the Nude" at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Excellent. I've got a habit now of just grinning at paintings that I really like: why be somber about it? Why not just enjoy? Particular likes:

Morganville
Well, I finished the Murakami and moved on to the latest of Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires books, Last breath. And it's really good. This series just keeps itself so light, fresh and pleasant; I can't help enjoying it every time. And then it becomes a page turner too... It's up the with the Kitty novels, I think, for just keeping going without ( Read more... ) -
Murakami
Among Christmas present buying and baby stuff, quietly got to the third book of Murakami's 1Q84. Awesome to be reading him again, his early compelling story and beautifully put together oddness is as good as anything in that kind of magical realism or fantastic fiction line gets for me.
Might have to buy the recent Christopher Brookmyre in ( Read more... )
