How to Disappoint Your Dragon

I was looking forward to Dreamworks' next film, How to Train Your Dragon, but after seeing the newly-released trailer, I can't help but feel let down.  I realize that movies don't necessarily have to follow the books they're based on scene-by-scene, but when you change the very premise of the story, therefore creating a domino effect that changes ( Read more... )

Wow that's quite a departure from the book. I wonder if they even consulted with the author of the book any during the making of the film.

There's nothing wrong with the premise itself, but since it's nowhere near the world of the "How to Train Your Dragon" books, why didn't they just go the little extra distance in order to make it its own thing?  It's like announcing that you're making "The Hobbit" into a movie, but then end up making "Willow" with Bilbo Baggins in the starring role.  >.=.

i guess being a dragon hunter is more exciting to watch on film than being a dragon trainer? Though id much rather enjoy the lazy and selfish part if he was 12 feet tall...mmmm
