In Dean's mind, in a perfect world he'd be the one to kill her. It's part of how he is wired. Take the hit, be the martyr, make or share the kill. It's not that he sees everyone else as not capable, but in his mind it's his job.
Dean telling Sam Dean can't kill Amara, Sam will have to do it is the most important development in the brothers' relationship in years!!!
Sam handled Dean's confession perfectly...it was an awesome end to that ep!
Such a lovely scene and moment between the brothers. I think they have finally achieved a level of harmony and understanding and trust with each other that I haven't seen in... well. Ever, as a composed combination. This season has been such a treat of growth and development between Dean and Sam. Not just moments of meeting of minds based on emergent necessity, but this is BEFORE the emergency happens, and they have time to talk about it and relay what needs to happen, share greater vulnerabilities and trust in sharing the burden, all that jazz. It feels like this is what should have been happening all along, and simultaneously where they've been headed from the beginning of the show, and yet for the first time it feels solid and not transient between them. They have shared vulnerabilities with each other before, but this just feels like a new level they've reached, and it is a joy to behold.
