Anything to feel weightless again...

Surgery on my left hand is set for Thursday, August 24. It's such a relief to finally have a date; getting it has been like pulling teeth, with many phone calls and no word from the office for two months. And I'm scared. I've never had surgery. I've had teeth pulled, and some stitches for a gash on my leg, but this is actual surgery. I'm going to ( Read more... )

Oh no, you poor thing. I would be totally scared of surgery too. I had a scan this week and I was nervous! Anything like that is scary. I really hope it works as well as possible for you.

At least the pampering will be nice, though. :)

Thank you! All kind thoughts are very welcome. :D

Are you doing okay? The scan wasn't for something worrisome, was it?

For my neck, to see exactly why it's sore. I don't think there's anything majorly wrong. I'll have to wait till I see my doctor to know, but I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of doing lots of yoga.

You take care! I'm sending kind thoughts your way. :)

*hugs too*

The worst part was I bruised my face up, and had to go to work with a shiner on my chin.

Surgery does sound really scary, but at least the date is finally set and hopefully things will be better afterwards. And mom pampering is always fun. :)

That fall sounds shitty though. Falling is also scary! I hope you don't hurt too badly.

Oh, and are you having surgery on the right hand, too, just at a different time?

I'm having the other hand done at a different time. Part of me would like to just get it all over with at once, but after surgery, the one hand will be completely immobilized and non-functional. I need to have one non-tore-up hand with which to eat ice cream and work the TV remote.

Aww, poor guy. That's an awful lot of instruments poking around in your body.

The anesthesia makes me nervous, but I don't know yet if they're going to put me out or just heavily sedate me. I'm supposed to be getting an informational packet in the mail, so it won't be like, surprise!

I need some raspberry sherbert! What I really want is a boozy girls' night-in, but I'm all cracked-out on pain meds that preclude me from cocktailing.

I didn't trip, really. It happened in such slow-motion -- I stepped out the back door, took one step down, and... I must've just taken a stumble and was unable to right myself, because I just went down. The real damage occurred when my hands couldn't catch me. That made me so mad! I spent the next day telling people I'd been in a bar brawl.
