It works to keep physical matter on the toilet seat off of you. I suppose crabs and such could find their way without direct contact to the toilet seat. I find that often gas station toilet seats are exceptionally grody and prefer not to touch them with any part of my body.
No practice is necessary as long as you are capable of doing a squat and holding it for as long as you will need to on a toilet. I guess that all depends on time per dump, for you. For me, my legs will get a little tired if I've held my pee for too long or if I've had a gigantic cup of coffee.
Is the Kenny that you mentioned in one of your entries...well, I think I might know him but I don't remember his last name. Some sort of Latino background, plays guitar, and started at CMU in 2001? Tell him I say hello, if so.
