King of monsters

May 05, 2008 22:29

I asked a friend this yesterday, and so I started thinking about what everyone else might think about it. So, all right, who would you consider the greatest monster of them all? Monster from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein's monster, the Mummy, Wolfman, Dracula, Godzilla, the Blob-- the classic guys. I'll let you include comic book villains, too, ( Read more... )

I'd like to say myself, but I don't think I've reached that level yet...

Not yet, no. You don't have anybody you look up to, maybe?

I think we already had this fight.

I don't feel very attractive when I have to yell at you and blush at the same time for defending her.

Jolly?! No no no, I gaht this one.

Think about it. That guy ain't gaht no weaknesses. Every hero or villain's gaht a weakness. And he can fuckin annhilate 'em.

Superman's bein a bitch again? Santa'll fuckin pull kryptonite outta his bag of tricks.

But he's still a good guy in the meantime, isn't he? Until Santa loses it I don't think he makes the list. I see where you're going with that, though.

I always thought the tooth fairy was creepy. Little women with bug wings who live in a castle made of teeth? That's the sort of mental image that gives you nightmares as a kid.

Godzilla. I'm not fond of things that destroy cities.

At least it looks cool on the movie screen.

Oh but when that giant foot is coming down on you? Not quite so fun.

I'm not exactly a movie monster buff. As far as supervillains go Magneto is totally in the running. Riddler, too. I mean he wasn't much in a fight, but he had Batman running in spirals trying to figure out his nefarious schemes. And the bowler hat and cane thing? The guy had style! Plus he was clever. Way cool.

Riddler can slide, but Magneto? Sure the dude had those metal-bending powers, but his costume must have been made by blind seamstresses.

Oh no way! It was a totally great costume! The cape and the helmet and just-- power just radiated off of him!

In waves of bright red and purple. Someone needed to show him a color wheel.

The Blob...? The 88 version was alright, in that messed up way, I guess. The gore was almost as good as Jeff Goldblum changing into the Brundle-fly.

But... 'King' of fake monsters... I don't know, does Alien count? Not too many things rape your face and lay eggs inside you. Otherwise I'll vote for wolfman, I guess...

That scared the hell out of me when I saw it as a kid. My parents rented the one they made in the late 50's, and to a six-year-old that stuff was terrifying.

I about forgot Alien. Yeah, I think he counts. Those facehuggers were the worst.

Thankfully actual aliens are a lot more mundane... Still total annoying assholes, though.
