In mid-June I weighed in at the doctors at about 315 pounds. When I visited my mom at the end of June, my step-dad gave me the "with your health issues, if you don't do something, you're gonna die" speech, and pushed low-carb, ketogenic as a diet choice. I started that on July 4th ( Read more... )

Thanks for the recipe link.
Spiciness is easy to fix.
What was the name of that drug your mother recommended for me?
Have you gone back to swimming?

How do you cure the spiciness? I'm using cans of diced mild green chilis, and I'm getting the same sort of unpleasantness I don't like in pepper jack cheese.

My mom recommended Contrave. It looks like it might be a problem if you take opioids for pain. I don't know if you do.

I went swimming this morning, and I've signed up for a swimming class starting next Wednesday for 4 weeks.

Have you tried any of the Lightlife products? We very much like their vegetarian "ground beef" for chili, etc. 55 g of product has 6 g of carbs and 11 g of protein. The chick'n has fewer carbs than that - 5 g of carbs in an 84 g serving, with 14 g of protein.

This is exciting and wonderful! I look forward to seeing less of you - hopefully more often!

That's fantastic! I'm so glad this is working for you. I know it's hard but your results are tremendous. Almost 40 pounds in 2 months and your blood sugar under much better control! Wow! Most people who do this see good results quickly but occasionally someone is much slower to respond. I’m happy you weren’t one of the unlucky ones ( ... )

One thing ive been doing lately that really helped me track my eating and develop a healthy consumption level is the free fitbit app on my phone. Also daiky weifhing myself. I gained a bunch of weight during the pandemic ... anxiety eating in combination with coz bringing hard to resist food that i didn’t need in my diet. I'm now back closer to my ideal weight. Getting in the habit of tracking how much I eat has really helped... and once I'm finished eating my calories for the day I'm done... and i just drink a bunch of ice water or unsweetened ice tea... which doesn’t have many calories at all.
I certainly hope your health continues to improve 🙂
