Well, lots to catch up on here, and not a lot of time, as usual. Well, I finally got a laptop that was as advertised, and does what it should. Yay! More later, as I'm pressed for time and need to tweak a few more things for right now. BTW, the new battery for it arrived today as well! w00t!

I was out cleaning the windshield of the van this morning, and heard cat chatter. Thinking it was Frodo, I looked over at the porch, and sure enough, he was sitting in the living room window, but he wasn't chattering. Just purchased an older laptop on Ebay a few minutes ago, and am looking forward to receiving it next week. If all goes as planned, which with my luck probably won't happen, I'll format the tiny hard drive it comes with pretty much as soon as I get it, and try installing Damn Small Linux on it and see how it does. Well, I seem to finally be getting some projects wrapped up. Got the lumber yesterday for the clothesline posts, got it cut and the posts assembled and in the ground. This morning I got the line installed, so now we once again have our very own solar-powered clothes dryer. Yay us ( Read more... )

As usual for me, things haven't quite gone as planned, but that's OK. With almost no notice, my schedule at work was changed this week, which actually worked out for the best. Well, I've upgraded my OptiPlex to Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn), and everything seems good so far, especially since I found out about Automatix. Made things much easier than the last upgrade. Yes, I know I can just do a distro upgrade, but I feel better and have better luck generally when I do a wipe and a clean install, and it has the added benefit ( Read more... )
