Well, I do respect it, as you believe that way, but what I was saying is that I don't believe it at all. To me, atheism makes no sense, as the problems with Deism are all egotistical and childish. Everyone expects God to explain all this shit to them personally. An atheist cannot believe in the absence of a diety by looking at his fruits. That is not atheism, that is nonconformity. Every atheist I've ever met doesn't tell me that they are atheist for a good reason, but just that if there is a God, they don't like the way he's running things so he can't be real. That's why Atheism is rediculous to me

I don't believe in god because i just find it completely ridiculous to think that there exists an omnipotent being. I was raised christian and i tried really hard to keep believing it, but i couldn't. I think that god was created by people to explain the unexplainable, but as science developed, the need for using god to explain everything just sort of evaporated

Well, see there's alot of people who are, say vegetarians--they don't eat meat. Well, if your not completely vegan, or you don't eat strictly dairy products from animals, then you are actually hurting the animals. See, if I eat meat(which I do), then it's my right AND responsibility to use leather products, eat getalin, and use every animal product I can. If I don't, then we will wind up with shit like they did on the plains of Native America--buffalo killed and skinned, and left completely whole on the fields. So untill I decide to give up animals altogether, I have to use all of it.
Also, since I am not down for the protest reasons for veganism, I wouldn't be a vegan because I see no reason why we can't eat dairy products. Someone told me it's gross that we eat the breat milk of another species, but I think it's pretty wierd that when we eat fruit, we are eating plant sex organs.
michael, i just wanted to say thanks for being the type of person who, even even if we are completely in disagreement, i can have a civilized logical discussion with, completely lacking in lame-ness.
I'd have to agree with space marine that atheism is mentally INflexible, and he actually stated all the reasons I was thinking of while I read your position. Yet, I can't call myself a true believer of a higher being. I don't know what I believe. I do know, however, that I do not belong on either extremes (atheism or I wear God on my shoulder.) After living here and putting up with people's hypocritical bullshit (this is the Bible Belt after all,) I don't know how I can believe the same as them. I know people personally that have never done anything immoral, they have gone to church religiously (pun), and couldn't curse if they tried. Those are the people that are ignorant in my eyes because they will never live life to the fullest. Part of human nature is to do questionable or promiscuous things, but there is a line you're not supposed to cross (that is a different issue entirely.) At the same time I've seen sluts who are just as religious. What's the point? From my utilitarian views, wasn't religion supposed to give you a

"You are only Christian because your parents told you about it. Your parents are only Christian because their parents told them about it. You are only Christian because Constantine made your ancestors Christian. You only believe in God because someone told you to"
That is not always true. I know plenty of people that are christian for diffrent reason, more personal reasons. Yes passing it down through family is the biggest trend but its not the only.
My point was that you wouldn't even have been exposed to Christianity if it weren't for Constantine. If he had not done that, Christianity would seem just as foreign and unfamiliar as any other religion to which you are not affiliated.
While that is very true that people are Christian for different reasons, I think it would have been unusual to have become so if Christianity wasn't MADE popular. It would be the equivalent of me becoming Shinto by today's standards.
1. I do try to look at things from an Atheist standpoint. It's a depressing look at the world, I think. 2. If you are looking for proof, then you are saying you expect God to bow down to you. Don't look for proof, look for signs and truth.
