I had a high school history teacher who actually faked his own death by gunshot while doing an exercise with students. This was at another school, it was said.
According to the article, they told the students the truth after some students "became upset." I'm just boggling at that. Did they not expect students to be shocked and grieving? Have they never witnessed teenagers' reactions to real deaths among their peers? What the hell kind of soulless dystopia do they live in that they were surprised that these kids reacted with natural and human grief to being told that their friends were dead.
I have heard of this hoax taking place before, and it's disgusting. As someone who went to a high school where five students were lost between December and July in separate circumstances(none drunk driving), this is absolutely horrid.
Traumatizing someone doesn't teach responsibility. It teaches aversion.
Hell yes, they should be fired! Especially considering that the entire "scared straight" theory is essentially complete rubbish. I personally know of several people with no conscience that have lost a close friend to drunk drivers, and in one case, a serious girl friend, and then proceeded to drink and drive themselves.
