Yes, we know you found a new word that sounds weird and nifty, but really, using 'vetted' in place of proven or something similar does not make you sound like you have your finger on the pulse. You sound like a chucklehead. Please get over it. Being trendy does not make you clever, it makes you a tool.

I've seen it most often in the place of proven or tested or something like that a lot in the last few weeks, no doubt due to the whole 'vetting of Sarah Palin' discussions that took place. I know I've not seen it used as frequently as I do now (before this year I've seen it used maybe three times). I know it's not new or particularly nifty.. I was being snarky.
Seems like anytime a word is used in a high profile news story there are who people latch onto it and you end up hearing it a lot more often in as many ways as can be gotten away with.
Like when the Anita Hill scandal happened, suddenly everyone changed how they pronounced 'harassment'. Am I wrong?
