As adolescents, teenagers, and young adults, we have so much power in our hands, yet few of us realize it.  Most of us are too busy absorbed in ourselves or trivial things.  There are many exceptions to this, but many of us are getting as drunk and stoned as possible and fucking around as much as possible.  We are so wasted in more ways that one ( Read more... )

Very well written. However, it's our own ancestors' fault that we are "being fed propagandistic bullshit." Especially back in the 60's, teens were really bad-ass. That image has retained throughout the baby-boomer generation who are now the parents. They retain that idea, and we are being fed it. Trust me, the world is going to be a hugely different place by the time we're parents.

I do very much like the calling though. :)

The companies, for one, feed us bullshit; it's not necessarily our ancestors' fault.

Many teens and young adults have been and will always be "bad-ass."

Interestingly enough, the world has stayed the same for thousands of years in many ways, and I do not see any future change in that.

Back in 1967-8, Sen. Eugene McCarthy ran for the Democratic nomination for President against incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson. Many teens, squarely in the baby boom generation, cut their hair (facial and otherwise) and came together to oust President Johnson whom they blamed for the unpopular Vietnam War. They realized that to win support from their elders (you had to be 21 to vote then) they had to give up their rebellious attire and get "neat and clean for Gene ( ... )

Although, lots of other wonderful (*sarcasm*) things came with Nixon's administration.
