Yes, it sounds like mid-life crisis time. My own experience with that is "everything you know is wrong" - that hit me 5 years ago when I decided to come out, and I'm still not fully recovered from it. You end up having to re-examine every single thing that's important in your life, and decide what is true, what isn't, what is relevant, what isn't, what to keep, and what to discard and remake.
But to stay sane it's important to find a good anchor - core beliefs, strong bonds to family and good friends, etc. - that can help you through the rough parts.
